hiking trailsssssss

My boyfriend, some other friends and myself have been finding and going to amazing hiking trails where we've come across some pretty rad waterfalls. I have made a list below of the best hiking places (some with waterfalls!) which I recommend. If you're looking for something free (well, besides gas) to go to and to just get out and be active, please do visit these. They are great. I also mentioned one or two I wouldn't recommend.. .


1) Bash Bish Falls in Massachusetts (best waterfall I've ever seen!) The trail is very steep and quite a workout but it's so worth it. It's only about an hour from Albany or maybe a little more.
2) Barberville Falls in Rensselaer Country - another great waterfall.
3) Edmund Hike- nice waterfall, best for beginner hikers, not too strenuous
4) Five Rivers (smaller, no waterfall but still beautiful. AND there's a wild turkey trail. What's not to love?)
5) Lisha Kill Preserve (a little difficult to navigate but not too bad of a hike. Smaller waterfall)
6) Plotterkill Preserve (definitely not my favorite but the waterfall is nice when there's enough water- best to visit in the fall, winter, and spring).

And here's one I don't recommend at all:
7) Normanskill Farm (It's right in Delmar and you drive down this road suddenly you can go a few different directions. It's confusing, scary because there's like weird worship or sacrifice sculptures in the Forrest, and not much of a hike! Most of it isn't even through the woods- just along a road with cars constantly coming.) However, there is a dog park at the end somewhere so that may be of help to ya.

spooky times.

I've always thought it was uber cool to find haunted houses (real ones), cemeteries, and stories. Luckily, my best friends and my boyfriend don't think I'm nuts and also like to accompany me on my journeys to visit these pronounced freaky places. There's something about there being more to life than what we see everyday. I know there are skeptics who say that there's "always a reasonable explanation for the window with a scary face in it" or that "that sound had to have come from something like the wind..." I chose to believe because it's fun and I truly do believe that paranormal things do happen.

Right now, as I eat my cherries and gingersnaps, I contemplate my next choice of creepy location. I'm thinking something local and easy to access because if it ends up being lame, it wasn't such a disappointment and hike to get there.

By the way, the list of people who want to come to these places with me is totally getting longer and it's super exciting. I should toatz be a tour guide.

oh - em- gee

I just yesterday registered for the first of three NYS teaching exams and I'm extremely anxious to get them all over with. Looking at the review book, I think I'll be fine but it's those pesky math problems that have once again come back to ruin my life. This of course has been happening since I could count (which took a while, folks...) I just hope the $88.00 plus the $30.00 late sign up fee ( :O ) is worth it in the results... And dude, shouldn't these tests be free, courtesy of the state?? They're the ones who need me in that classroom!!

I'll be hittin' the books 'til July 17th at 12:59pm, hoping I pass this darn thing. RIP Stephanie Marie.

I love spending mornings and afternoons with my boyfriend. I spend as much time with him as I can so when he goes to work, we both made each other feel happy and loved :)
I love being with someone who shares so much in common with me: being active, cooking together, and being sorta funny ;)


I'm still trying to find a job for the summer but no luck so far. I went on a Chuck E Cheese interview, they called me, I went in for orientation and I never went back after that. Believe me people, it wasn't a good thing... I'm trying to do a bunch of fun summery things now so that when I get a job I can say I did it all while I could =)

Speaking of which, the 4th is rapidly approaching and Jon and I are still trying to figure out where to go and what to do. If Nana comes up from the city, I definitely want to do something with her too. Anyone who wants plans can join in ours when we get some!!

Lately I've been focusing on being positive and trying to become a more meditative and calm person. By no means do I mean BORING but definitely lower strung and less stressed...

Here are some things that have made me happy these past few weeks:

1) Seeing my two best friends
2) Finding a cool lego piece at an abandoned, burned down country club (I hope some ghost followed me home- well, kinda...)
3) Visiting my family- Nana, Dad, and Kaylene in the Bronx
4) Swimming with fatty pants <3
5) Hiking and seeing beautiful places
6) Boston and the penguins
7) Massachusetts and thinking of my future of possibly living there
8) Thinking about student teaching in September!!
